Potential barriers

Support network- people may not have the support to take part in exercise. For example people getting sponsors for the great north run is good support network. People may not have the support to go on

Lack of facilities- may not have any facilities in the community, this can be changed if people from the community set groups/lessons up that can help the rest of the community out.

Transport- may be not able to get to a gym or leisure centre. Special busses are put on to pick people up at their house that can’t afford to get a taxi.

Financial- people may have low paid jobs this suggests that they can’t pay for the right nutrition or diet plans. To overcome this people can put free events on at leisure centres such as food banks.

Health problems- people with various illnesses and problems may not be able to take part in exercise. To overcome this group sessions could be put on to make the people feel supported.

Disability- may stop people from involving themselves in exercise. To overcome this people have to adapt around them so they can get involved. http://popupgym.org.uk/

  1. You need to discuss these barriers and relate it back to the three different target groups from your research. For example, who has these issues from the target groups that you have targeted?

You should also look to explain what impact these barriers have on these individual and look at where they are on the sports development continuum.

Finally, I would expect some kind of analysis for the barriers and provide realistic solutions for these barriers which are specific to the needs of the participants.
